Join the League of Women Voters of Westmoreland County

The League of Women Voters (LWV) is known on a county level for providing voters services and civic education, including voter registration events, information on how to vote in upcoming elections and important voting deadlines, non-partisan information about candidates, and organizing candidate forums.

The LWVWC is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment in our organization.

Joining the league or renewing membership

On February 3, 2025, the League of Women Voters of the United States (LWVUS) launched a member portal that will be used by all league members across the country to manage new and renewing memberships.

  • Membership lasts 12 months and everyone, age 16 and older, is welcome to join. Join LWVWC
  • There will no longer be Household memberships, but one person can renew a membership for another.
  • There will no longer be special membership rates for Students or Young Members.
  • Annual dues will no longer be a fixed rate; dues will be a pay-what-you-can amount with a minimum dues amount of $20/year. The LWVUS-recommended dues amount for all members across the country will be $75/year. However, members can pay any amount from $20 and above. This means that members can pay the recent LWVWC dues rate which was $60/year for Individuals.
  • Members who are able to access the new member portal and renew electronically are encouraged to do so. However, there will still be an option to renew by mailing a check to LWVWC.  If you prefer to join or renew by mail with a check or money order, please click on the mail-in form:  Mail-in Membership Application or Renewal.  Print the form, fill it out, and mail it to the address provided.

Donations

When you renew in the new member portal, if you would like to make an additional contribution directly to LWVWC, as some members choose to do when they renew, this will need to be separate from choosing a higher dues amount.

  • The new LWVUS member portal will have an option for donating to your local league (LWVWC) after you select your dues amount; LWVUS will forward the funds donated to LWVWC.

  • Alternatively (and preferred by LWVWC), you may continue to donate directly to LWVWC via our website or by mailing a check to LWVWC (email  treasurer@lwv-westmoreland.org for the address).  To donate via this website, click Donate to LWVWC .

LWVWC is a 501(c)(3) public charity.  Donations and the portion of dues that goes to LWVWC are tax deductible and are eligible for employer matching funds.  The annual membership dues are split between LWVUS, LWVPA, and LWVWC to support our important work.  LWVWC only retains about 20% of the annual dues per member.
We appreciate any additional donations to help us finance our local league operations and activities.
